Book a Jazz band in Somerset

Jazz bandThe jazz groups we put together are made up of experienced and versatile musicians. We can play mellow background music for dinners, parties and receptions or the group can be more prominent and lively if is this is what your event needs.

Each booking is different so the line up of musicians can be tailored to suit your needs. You may want to keep it low-key with a piano/double bass duo or include a jazz drummer to create a lively, funky set.

Booking a full five-piece band will really get things going. When you contact us you will talk to Adrian Smith, a jazz double bass player living in Wells, Somerset. He will discuss what you are looking for and then will make arrangements.

Although we play a wide range of jazz styles we don't play a pop, rock or trad jazz. What we are good at is playing popular swing, bossa nova, ballads and jazz standards such as 'All of Me', 'Blue Bossa', 'Nostalgia in Time Square', 'The Girl form Ipanema', 'Fly me to The Moon', 'Take Five'............ We can discuss the set list with you when you book.

Jazz South West also play public gigs at cafe's and restaurants around the areas so come along, have a listen and have a chat. Contact us to find out where we are playing next.

'Mark Three' Jazz Trio

The 'Mark Three' Jazz Trio was born out of the the original five piece group 'Mark Five' featuring Mark Pembrey on tenor sax, Mike Peake on trumpet, Andrew Barratt on guitar, Adrian Smith on Bass and Paul McGrath on drums. The quintet played a lively mix of bebop, samba, funk and jazz standards. Obvious influences on this group included the John Scofield and John Coltrane recordings.

'Mark Three' are a jazz trio that specialize in playing background music for weddings, parties and events. The combination of Mark on sax, Adrian on double bass and Andrew on guitar creates a subtle sound that suits many different occasions.

Andrew Barratt is one of the South West's leading jazz guitarists and educators.
